Elephant Nature Park, Chiang Mai, Thailand

Assalamualaikum

For a long time, they’ve been a national symbol, but they’re also considered to be work animals and many people’s livelihoods depend upon them. And elephants in the tourism industry are ubiquitous. Any trek arranged from Chiang Mai involves a stopover to ride an elephant, and some are used on city streets for begging.

Once at the park, you spend most of the day feeding the elephants (they eat A LOT), bathing them once or twice in the nearby river, and enjoying a smorgasbord of a buffet lunch.

But the fact that this place exists and knowing that there are more than a few people who care so much about elephants and dedicate so much time, effort & love to helping them is really inspirational.
Put the Elephant Nature Park on your list to visit if you can. Or at least get to know a little about the elephant-tourism industry before you step on top of one.

Seoul, Korea

Assalamualaikum

1)      Deoksugung Palace
We have to pay 1,000 won for the entrance fee. The old Korean architecture was beautiful indeed. The park is opened daily from 9.00am till 6.00pm except for Mondays. To get there, you can take subway Line 2 to City Hall Station and get out at Exit 2 or 3.

2)      Geongbokgung Palace
To go another palace is about 20 minutes walking, it is Geongbokgung Palace. Found out that the later is relatively larger in size. The architecture is similar with the previous palace but the main building is a Pagoda like building which similar like the Summer Palace in Beijing. The palace is opened daily from 9.00am till 6.00pm except for Tuesdays. Admission fee is 3,000 won. To get there, please take subway Line 3 to Gyeongbokgung Station and proceed to Exit 5.

Kelly Tarlton’s Antartic Encounter & Underwater World, Auckland

Assalamualaikum

Main attraction at Kelly Tarlton would be the penguin encounters where u would be riding a snowcat or snowmobile to tour around and watch the Antarctic penguins. It allows u to view the penguins up close and if you’re there during their feeding time, you’ll get to see them being fed.

Enjoy the pictures! :)

A great view of Auckland city can be seen from Kelly Tarlton’s.

Beijing, China

Assalamualaikum

It used to be the place where the olden Chinese Qing dynasty emperor spends his summer time, but nowadays it has become a major tourist attraction in Beijing.

The entrance

The half frozen lake

Lots of people were seen there as I set foot there early in the morning. The cold weather makes the Kunming Lake half frozen. Due to that condition, all of the cycling boats which normally flocks the lake were left parking by the lakeside.

The main place building

Throughout the leafless tree walkway, a large number of Chinese old folks were seen there going for a morning walk and also there were a few tour groups wandering around with their tour guides. At one area there was also a group of people doing tai-chi, a type of Chinese internal martial arts which is normally practices for health benefits.

Brunei Darussalam

Assalamualaikum

Brunei has a relatively good road network. From the border of Sarawak we can continue to move towards the Bandar Seri Begawan without having to go through the towns which are mostly located near the beach. This shortcut can be considered as the highway, but there are still two-lane road and some are in the process of enlargement.

The first milestone found after entering the building under the BSB is that maybe the tallest building in BSB. Most of the buildings in the city especially those located with height not exceeding mosque minarets. The building is quite far from the city center.

Kampung Air

Mosque in Kampung Air

A little view of Istana Nurul Iman can be seen from the Kampung Air

Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque which is one of the most beautiful mosques in Asia. What's unique about the main dome of the mosque is made of pure gold. Main prayer space is not so wide but made with a touch of luxury.

Not far from the mosque there are two of them linked Mall through subways. The situation in BSB also not dissimilar to our place where there are many foreigners from various countries, and mall here made their meeting place at the weekend. Many shops selling souvenirs in this mall, but if you want a cheaper can be purchased at stores facing the Kampung Air.

Become rich in Brunei :D

Catalunya, Spain

Assalamualaikum

Catalunya is Spain’s northeastern province probably most famous for the ultra-hip city of Barcelona. But in a region with nearly eight million people, Catalunya has a lot more to offer than just beaches and Barcelona’s legendary nightlife.

You can definitely see the Catalans are passionate about their home and their region. With golden sand beaches, snowy mountains and wine-producing valleys, it’s easy to see why: Catalunya is simply…amazing!

Barcelona is famous for its quirky architecture. This building, in the style of Orientalism has umbrellas pinned to the side of it. Quirky? Yes. But just par for the course in Barcelona!

The beautiful Casa Amattler, it’s a Modernist building and it’s absolutely stunning. Just look at the details!

The Catalans take food very seriously. Barcelona’s La Boqueria market is filled with tasty treats and fresh vegetables. But if you escape Barcelona for a few days, you’ll find the food even fresher in the Catalan countryside.

Catalunya’s lush countryside is home to many wineries and farms. Agri-tourism is quite the trend at the moment and it’s no surprise that Catalunya can offer up quite a bit.

It’s not just the people that find the food in Catalunya so delicious—the vultures like it too!

One of the local Catalan food specialties is the calçot. A green onion cooked on a wood-fire grill, the calçot is only available in the Springtime. With its complementary Romescu sauce it’s a definite must-eat for any foodie!

And we’ll just end this with a pretty poppy flower from a Catalan field of green =D
